On June 14, 2011, HRH Crown Prince Frederik handed over several donations from Danish and Japanese companies as well as collections from Danish citizens and from Fredensborg Municipality. The donations which mainly focus on helping the many orphaned and displaced children of Higashi-Matsushima were handed over to the Mayor of Higashi-Matushima, Mr. Abe, with a message of support and solidarity from the people of Denmark to the people of Japan underlining that "We care!"
